TAMBOPATA LODGE, PERU
The proposed Tambopata Lodge is situated along the Tambopata River in the Peruvian Amazon. Due to the sensitive nature of the site rammed earth walls and tensile roofs were used to create temporary structures as well as simultaneously provide passive cooling and the occasional passive heating. The luxury lodge consists of a large tiered main building with walkways that branch off towards a small auditorium, kitchen, spa and several private bungalows. The position of each building was determined by the state protected Brazil nut tree that prevents buildings of building no closer than 50m from each tree.
